Beulah Holman

Beulah Holman

Beulah “Hunn” Holman was born in Winnsboro, Texas and passed away in 2007. She was the second child of eight siblings. At the age of seventeen Beulah moved to Dallas and worked as a housekeeper so that she could help bring all of her siblings to Dallas where she felt they had better opportunities for success. Mrs. Holman had a distinguished career as a businessperson at a time when it was not the custom for women to own their company and was the silent partner in Ethels Dress Shop located in Casa Linda Plaza. Beulah was a strong believer in community service, that communities were developed and grew by the existence of the small business owner, and that working and being productive was the responsibility of every American. Among her many accolades and achievements Mrs. Holman received from the White Rock/Casa Linda area the title of Business Woman of the year in the late 1950s; served as president of the East Dallas local chapter of the Business and Professional Womens Association; served over 25 years as a dedicated volunteer at the Dallas Arboretum where she was officially acknowledged for her volunteer service by the Arboretum Board. – See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dallasmorningnews/obituary.aspx?n=beulah-a-holman-hunn&pid=87193618#sthash.ajJ4ktzU.dpuf
