Chris Grooms

Chris passed in April 2018. He served as Professor of English at Collin since August 1989. He held a BA in History and English, an MA in English from Stephen F. Austin State University and a PhD in Literature from the University College of Wales, where he was honored as a Gregynog Scholar in 1986, 1987, and 1988. With his deep love for Welsh culture, language, and history, Dr. Grooms brought a unique perspective to Collin College. He was a prolific writer, researcher, and an accomplished folk and classical guitarist. When he joined Collin College, he was listed as one of the 25 members of the British Folk Music Society in the world. Most importantly, however, Chris had a gift for connecting with and engaging students.
