The Anthony family played a vital role in the development of Collin College.

Dr. John Anthony was the first President of Collin College and one of the first 5 employees of the college in 1985. Dr. Anthony’s career in education started when he received his doctorate of education from Temple University. He was President of Portland Community College before coming to Texas to help make Collin College the institution it is today. Upon his retirement in 1999, the John Anthony theater at the Spring Creek campus was named in his honor. The Dr. John Anthony endowed scholarship was established through the inspiration and dedication of the Alpha Mu Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.

The Carole B. Anthony performing arts scholarship was established in 1999 by her husband, Dr. John Anthony to honor her love of the theater and those who pursue careers in music, dance or theater. Carole Anthony was very active in the Collin College community.
