LULAC of Collin Co. #4537
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), founded in 1929, is the oldest and most widely respected Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States of America. LULAC was created at a time in our country’s history when Hispanics were denied basic civil and human rights, despite contributions to American society. The founders of LULAC created an organization that empowers its members to create and develop opportunities where they are needed most.
In 2006, the Collin County program began as a regional effort for all LULAC Councils in North Texas to participate in as an end of the year wrap-up during the holidays. The program was started by the North Texas LULAC District Executive Board, led by Coty Rodriguez Anderson who was the North Texas LULAC District 3 Director from 2004-2008. Since 2006, each December, Collin County LULAC Council #4537 has partnered with a local K-12 school to provide meals, winter coats and shoes to families in need. Members adopt families identified by the school.
