Marguerite (Garnier) Young
Marguerite (Garnier) Young, was born in rural Newfoundland, Canada during the Great Depression, where medical care was delivered by untrained and minimally prepared local women. A trailblazer for women’s independence, and a champion for those in need, Marguerite knew the importance of education and was a passionate supporter of nursing as a career choice. A wife, mother and union organizer, Marguerite and her husband, Ted raised four children instilling in them the generous and compassionate spirit of which is her legacy.
