Scheffer Family

The Scheffer Family Endowment is given in memory of Ava “Boots”, Locklin M. and Mary Frances Scheffer. Boots Scheffer worked for many years as a bookkeeper at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Her daughter, Mary Frances also had a lifelong interest in medicine and, while raising four children, completed her training to become a Registered Nurse. She worked in that capacity in several hospitals for nearly thirty years, and never lost her love for the profession. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to a deserving student who demonstrates a similar love and commitment to the field of Nursing.
