Sean Sutherlin Memorial
Sean has been a full-time professor at Collin College since 2017. He was loved and admired by his colleagues and his students. Sean had a Master of Arts in Humanities from The University of Texas at Dallas and was actively pursuing a Doctorate in Philosophy in Arts and Humanities. His working dissertation title was “The Science Fiction Image: Myth and Ideology in Science Fiction.”
He was a genuine intellectual, an ardent advocate, and a gentle soul. As Sean’s sister noted, Sean “loved poetry, politics, art, the planet and the cosmos. He loved his literature, philosophy, family and friends. He was a lover of everything and a fighter for humanity and his convictions.” Sean’s students appreciated his passion for his craft and his compassion for his students.
Sean’s colleagues have set up a memorial fund which will provide scholarships for deserving Collin College students. You can find out more or donate by visiting: https://www.collin.edu/foundation/give/mems%20and%20tribs.html
