Stephen Matthews

Steve Matthews is the vice president of external relations. Matthews serves as a key member of the district president’s cabinet and works to cultivate and enhance awareness of the college and the college’s relationships within the community and at all levels of government.

Matthews has a long history of civic engagement including volunteer roles at Collin College. He is a past chairman of the Allen, Frisco and Plano chambers of commerce and a graduate of Leadership Allen, Leadership Plano, Leadership Richardson and Leadership North Texas. Matthews worked for Atmos Energy for nearly three decades, most recently as the company’s director of governmental and public affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government and a graduate certificate in Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University. He is currently completing a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Organizational Development at the University of Texas at Dallas.
