Tom Emerson Endowment
Colonel Tom Emerson was born in McKinney in 1894. He started selling peanuts and candy at age seven. He later became the Vice President of sales at the Eversharp company in New York, creating the $64 Question quiz show. He retired in 1954 but kept busy with the Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce all while having a 20 year career as the livestock editor of the McKinney Courier-Gazette until his death in 1977. This endowment will inspire students who are majoring in business, marketing, entrepreneurship or economics.
